Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity Policy

At Versatile Real Estate Company, LLC (“VREC”), we are deeply committed to fostering inclusive, fair, and equitable access to housing opportunities for all individuals. We proudly support and adhere to both the letter and spirit of the Federal Fair Housing Act, the Texas Fair Housing Act, and all applicable local laws that protect against discrimination in housing.


1. Federal Fair Housing Commitment

In accordance with Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended by the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988, it is illegal to discriminate in the sale, rental, or financing of housing based on:

  • Race

  • Color

  • Religion

  • Sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity)

  • Disability

  • Familial status (presence of children under 18 in the household or pregnancy)

  • National origin

This includes discriminatory advertising, steering, redlining, refusal to rent or sell, or any practice that implies a preference or limitation based on one of these protected classes.


2. Texas Fair Housing Law Compliance

In addition to federal law, VREC strictly complies with the Texas Fair Housing Act (Chapter 301, Texas Property Code). This state law mirrors the protections offered under federal law and grants the Texas Workforce Commission Civil Rights Division authority to investigate housing discrimination complaints.

VREC also complies with additional protections provided under local ordinances in cities such as Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and others, where applicable, which may prohibit housing discrimination based on:

  • Age

  • Student status

  • Veteran status

  • Marital status

  • Source of income, including housing vouchers (e.g., Section 8)


3. Advertising and Marketing Standards

VREC is committed to an affirmative advertising and marketing program that communicates equal housing opportunities without bias. We do not and will not engage in:

  • Advertising that expresses or implies a preference for or against any person based on a protected class.

  • Use of coded language or imagery that may discourage or exclude individuals based on protected traits.

  • Distribution of listings or marketing materials in a way that disproportionately targets or excludes protected populations.

All listings published on VREC websites, marketing materials, and third-party platforms are subject to this policy.


4. Equal Opportunity Employment

VREC is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We maintain a workplace free of discrimination or harassment and do not tolerate bias in employment decisions based on:

  • Race, color, or ethnicity

  • Religion or creed

  • Gender identity or expression

  • Sexual orientation

Our independent agents and staff are trained and encouraged to uphold this policy both within the company and when interacting with clients and the community.


5. Training and Accountability

To reinforce our commitment:

  • All VREC agents and employees receive training in fair housing law and best practices, including how to avoid implicit bias in housing services.

  • Any reported violations of this policy are subject to investigation and disciplinary action, including potential termination or contract revocation.

  • VREC will cooperate with federal, state, and local investigations into housing discrimination and may provide documentation or testimony when required.


6. Reporting Discrimination

If you believe that your rights under fair housing laws have been violated, we urge you to report the issue immediately. You may:

  • Contact VREC’s compliance team directly at fairhousing@vrecd.com.

  • File a complaint with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) at www.hud.gov/fairhousing or by calling 1-800-669-9777.

  • File a complaint with the Texas Workforce Commission – Civil Rights Division at www.twc.texas.gov or by calling 888-452-4778.

All reports to VREC are confidential and will be investigated promptly.
